That isn't listed on http://www.imagemagick.org/script/binar ... hp#windows

There are a large number of possible Windows binaries: Q8/Q16/Q32, int/HDMI, x86/x64, static/dll/portable. Only a small number of these are pre-built as binaries. If you want a different version, I'm afraid you have to compile it yourself.

Self compile... oh no. :-/

But in the past the Q8 were available for x86.
Is there a way to download those older versions?
I searched but did not find it.

My pleasure. It is a link that fmw42 found a few weeks ago, and I bookmarked. It isn't my site nor (as far as I know) an official IM site. Sites with binary archives come and go.

I hope the files there are exact copies of the official distributions. For all I know, they might be infected with viruses. I always run virus checkers when I download non-official binaries.

I've had good experience with Sunet.se (I'm Scandinavian), it's a University website and I believe it's only the "Professors" that are uploading to their FTP, so I feel comfortable using their service.

/edit

I've been using Q16 since I started with IM, as I needed it back then, but later I sought after a Q8 version as per the "advertised" 30-40% speed increase and half memory footprint, and I must say, even after only a little testing, that it's so much faster than Q16, I'm digging out old projects to test for speed increase, and so far it seems to be worth it, now I can process much more pics without IM starting to trash to harddrive due to limited RAM.
